Walked the Camino Francés in spring 2026 — Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago, then onward to Fisterra and Muxía. A month-long reset: simple routines, long days, shared meals, and the strange clarity that appears when life fits in one backpack.

Languages

Native Dutch, fluent English, B2 French, conversational Portuguese, and beginner attempts at German and Esperanto. The languages aren't the point — paying close attention to how people communicate is.

Teaching, still

I taught physics for a while and the instinct hasn't left. I still find a way to explain things — to friends at the bar, to whoever asks at a dinner party, occasionally to a confused homelab visitor.
